"Hope"
The wind came to bankrupt the morning's
peace, forgivable, for sure, the stillness
of winter's death disturbed by the
northern blow to stir the rock bath's
shallow water where a young
mockingbird showers in cold droplets
from the sky; and gold sun pearls flicker
the pine boughs ...
I watch, coolly knowing, soon, under
a crispy full moon, my friend, the
mockingbird, will be interpreting the
memorized notes of his thousands
miles journeys to bring forth his
mate; and the rose petals curl
to reach out, to be chosen for
the gift nest.
